Kane County Burning Regulations
The burning of any materials, landscape waste is prohibited at any time. Brush may only be burned when following the restrictions described below. The burning of materials besides brush is prohibited and punishable.
"Landscape Waste" means all accumulations of grass or shrubbery cuttings, leaves, flowers and weeds. "Brush" means tree trunks, limbs, branches and twigs.

Standard Restrictions
- Only on the property upon which the landscape waste or brush was generated
- Only on sunny days from 10:00am to 3:00pm
- Not when wind exceeds 10mph
- Not within 20 feet of any building, structure or property line
- Not during announced inversion conditions or ozone alerts
- Any burning must be supervised until the fire is extinguished; a fire extinguisher, garden hose or water source must be available at the burning site
Exemptions

Any property zoned or used for agricultural purpose

Burning for the purpose of prairie restoration or firefighter training

Burning of brush in fireplaces and self-contained outdoor wood burning devices

Burning of brush for recreational fires, but the fire cannot be larger than 3'x3'x3'

Ceremonial fire for a scheduled public or private event. **Notice must be given to the local fire department and a permit must be obtained from the Kane County Health Department
Penalties
Any person who violates any provision shall be punished by a fine up to $500
